Montessori Beginnings

Dear parents,

Montessori Beginnings is a preschool for children from two thru six years of age. The basic philosophy of Montessori is for children to nurture their love of learning thru their own natural curiosity. It is amazing to see what children at two and three years of age can really do.

In the "prepared environment" of the Montessori classroom, children learn how to bring order and discipline to their world. This is achieved in different ways, such as the use of a rug for floor work, which gives them a small area to focus, the work itself, which is organized, and self correcting. Children learn discipline and responsiblity using the work; by cleaning up after themselves, as they need to do in the "real world". They learn to sweep floors, clean and scrub tables, hang up wet clothes and fold clean towels. The children love this work and it gives them a real purpose. They see what they can do for themselves.

Montessori Beginnings also has a language section, which helps children learn pronunciation of words and to identify different objects; for example fruits and vegetables, animal names, insects, colors, shapes and ABC's.

Children at Montessori Beginnings learn about our earth and how to keep the environment safe and clean. We learn about geography, science, and water at a level to which young children can relate. As the children grow, they learn to hold a pencil with pre-writing exercises, they begin reading, working with higher numbers, and begin addition facts.

Montessori Beginnings is a very warm and nurturing environment for children. This is a child's place, it is where they can be safe and secure.
